Not everyone loves the coffee bitterness, although we need our caffeine boost. That is why a lot of people spend an obscene amount of money on specialty coffee drinks that are high in calories. There really is a simple and inexpensive solution to this problem. Cold brewing your coffee will cut through this bitterness, giving you the caffeine that you so desperately need while taking out that bitterness that you try to avoid.
Cold brew coffee is something that you may have noticed popping up at your favorite coffee shop. It is a popular trend because it reduces the coffee bitterness and gives you a smooth rich flavour while maintaining all the healthy oils and nutrients. The problem is that you are probably noticing that this type of coffee comes with a higher price tag than traditionally brewed coffee.
The fancy coffee shops aren’t the only place that you can get cold brew coffee. Now, you can make your own cold brew coffee for a fraction of the price. Getting your caffeine fix has never tasted so good and never felt quite as good on your wallet.
Once you try your first cup of cold brew coffee, there is no turning back. Cold brew coffee is less bitter because it does not get that higher level of acidity that hot coffee has. This is because when you hot brew coffee, the acid gets extracted from it, something that doesn’t happen with cold brew. This may be a trend right now, but cold brewing is a trend that will be around for a long time. The reduction of bitterness gives it a better flavoring, making it very appealing to coffee drinkers. With this recipe, you are now able to make your cup at home.
Here is how you can make an amazing cup of cold brew coffee:
Recipe to Reduce Coffee Bitterness
- Place your Code Blue Coffee grounds into your Madesco Labs Cold Brew Coffee Filter.
- Place the filter with coffee grounds into the container and fill it up with water using a ratio of 1:8 coffee-to-water.
- Stir this mixture up gently until it is combined.
- Cover the container and let the coffee grounds steep for 12 to 24 hours. Be sure the cover is on loosely as to prevent a buildup of carbon dioxide.
- The container can either be left out on the counter or in the fridge, based on your personal preference. The longer that you allow the mixture to brew, the stronger the concentration of coffee.
- After the coffee has finished sitting for as long as you want to allow, you need to filter the concentrate through our Madesco Labs coffee filters.
- From here, you can serve your coffee.
If you are going to make an iced coffee, take one part cold brew coffee with 2 or 3 parts cold water. Add cream and sugar according to taste.
